Communications & Events Manager

Role Overview:
As the Head of Communication and Events, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of House of Darwin’s voice, ensuring that all communications, whether internal or external, resonate with our purpose. You’ll oversee public relations, manage internal and external messaging, and lead impactful events that reflect who we are. This is a vital position that ensures consistency across everything we do as we continue to grow and bring more people on board to realize our vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communications Strategy - Develop and implement a communication strategy that embodies House of Darwin’s voice, ensuring consistency as we grow and evolve.
- Content & Messaging - Craft engaging and authentic content across multiple channels, including press releases, newsletters, website copy, and social media, ensuring our story is communicated clearly and consistently.
- Public Relations - Manage relationships with media outlets, partners, and influencers to elevate House of Darwin’s presence, ensuring that every interaction reflects our brand’s ethos.
- Internal Communication - Serve as the key point of contact for internal communications, ensuring the entire team is aligned with House of Darwin’s evolving vision.
- Event Planning & Execution - Lead the planning and execution of key events, from store openings to community projects like Hoop Dreams, ensuring every event is a reflection of our brand values.
- Community Engagement - Build and nurture strong relationships with Northern Territory communities, amplifying their stories through events and storytelling.
- Partnerships - Collaborate with brands and partners to create events that not only elevate House of Darwin’s mission but also deepen its impact.
- Team Collaboration - Work closely with marketing, design, and impact teams to ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints.
- Analytics & Reporting - Monitor and report on the success of communications and events, adapting strategies where necessary to maintain brand integrity and effectiveness.
Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or event management.
- Strong writing and storytelling abilities, with a keen eye for detail and brand consistency.
- Experience managing and executing large-scale events as well as intimate, community-focused gatherings.
- A proven track record in public relations, building strong media connections, and managing brand presence in the public eye.
- An appreciation for Indigenous culture and Northern Territory communities, with a passion for social impact.
- Excellent leadership and team collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments and manage multiple projects.

Bookkeeper
Location: Darwin, NT
Employment Type: Part-Time (Darwin-based applicants only)
Role Overview:
House of Darwin is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Admin professional to join our team part-time. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day administrative tasks, and supporting the smooth operation of our office. The ideal candidate will have a background in bookkeeping or accounting, strong organisational skills, and a proactive attitude toward problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Financial Management
- Record and reconcile financial transactions, including sales, expenses, and inventory.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of financial data.
- Process invoices, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and review financial statements, budget reports, and cash flow forecasts.
- Manage payroll processing and employee reimbursements.
- Assist with end-of-year financial reporting and liaise with accountants for tax preparation.
Administrative Support:
- Organize and maintain office files, records, and documents.
- Assist with inventory management and order supplies as needed.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries, providing information in a friendly and professional manner.
- Support coordination of events and meetings, including minute-taking and follow-up on action items.
- Provide additional administrative assistance as needed to support the team’s goals.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure adherence to financial policies and assist in developing procedures to improve workflow.

Qualifications:

As a Retail Assistant at House of Darwin, you’ll be the face of our brand in-store, greeting customers, sharing product knowledge, and ensuring the store environment is inviting and inspiring. This role requires a customer-first mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering excellent service.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service
- Greet and welcome every customer as they enter, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, sharing knowledge of our brand, values, and collections.
- Guide customers through their shopping experience, providing recommendations and styling tips.
- Handle customer concerns or questions professionally, ensuring a positive resolution.
Sales Support:
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently at the point of sale.
- Upsell or cross-sell products where appropriate to enhance the customer’s experience.
- Maintain product displays, ensuring merchandise is organised and visually appealing.
Store Maintenance:
- Keep the store tidy, well-stocked, and inviting at all times.
- Restock shelves and organise back-stock when needed to ensure a seamless shopping experience.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including securing the store and completing end-of-day reports.
